In this video Viv Sadd of Mahon Project shares their Erasmus+ Youth Exchange ‘Building Walls, Breaking Walls’.
In July 2018, we visited the Erasmus+ Youth Exchange, ‘Building Walls, Breaking Walls’ on Cape Clear island, off the coast of West Cork in Ireland.
The project brought together young people from Ireland, Northern Ireland, Palestine, Israel and Switzerland. The young people were building walls together and breaking down the walls of intercultural differences and misunderstandings.
Over the course of our visit we interviewed youth workers and the young people taking part in the project. We asked them about their experiences of taking part in an Erasmus+ youth exchange.
Sincerest thanks to everyone involved in ‘Building Walls, Breaking Walls’ for sharing their Erasmus+ experience with us. Watch the full video on the Léargas YouTube channel.
The reality is, this is youth work. It’s the greatest thing we can contribute to our young people…to give them this carrot that they can actually work towards, take them out of the bubble of their local community and actually take them somewhere and experience and link with young people from other cultures. They learn much much more from that than they will from going on their week’s sun holiday
